Assignment 1
Case Study – AssessingDaylight& Thermal Comfort at Modern Houses
One of the most common problems with modern houses is the lack of natural daylight, which requires artificial lighting to be used throughout the entire house. Additionally, mechanical devices such as fans and air conditioners are needed to provide thermal comfort, which can result in higher utility bills for homeowners. In a group of five students, ideas must be formulated to maximize daylight and thermal comfort for a chosen modern house, which can be either a double-storey corner lot or a double-storey semi-detached house. The group will conduct fieldwork, including data collection, observation, and brainstorming ideas to improve the distribution of daylight and thermal comfort in the house. To collect data, students may need to use relevant phone applications.
